Christina Burns
Christina Burns has been in event planning for over ten years, with experience in everything from concert promotion, galas, weddings, and conferences, to community festivals, charity golf tournaments, speakers series, and team building exercises.
She has been an active volunteer, getting her start in the industry by volunteering organizing events in high school, and then moving on to volunteer on the board of the Lindsay Riverfestival and the programming committee of the Burlington Sound of Music Festival. She organized the Central Region Canadian Organization of Campus Activities (COCA) conference in November 2006, and most recently was chair of the National COCA Conference in Ottawa in June 2008, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of COCA while in that role.
In her current role as Director of Campus Events for the McMaster Students Union at McMaster University, Christina runs approximately three events a week from September through to April. She organizes an annual charity gala for 2000 students, raising approximately $25,000 for charity each year, as well as concerts and events for as few as 20 people for an acoustic night, to 5000 for a major concert during ‘Welcome Week.’
Christina also is the owner of her own business, Magnet Events and Entertainment, which looks after running special events and weddings, as well as artist bookings and management.
