Rawle Borel Jr.
Rawle Borel Jr is an accomplished communications and event practitioner, public speaker and business leader.
As a communications and event practitioner, Rawle has worked in the industry for more than 15 years in a variety of senior and strategic roles. Prior to launching Sugarfoote Communications and Events, his own communications and corporate event consulting business in 2006, Rawle worked as director of communications at Rogers Communications Inc. – Canada’s largest communications, entertainment and information provider.
Prior to joining Rogers in 1996, Rawle worked in the marketing and external relations role in the United States for Denver-based education and entertainment company, Up With People. Rawle’s business experiences include the development of strategic communications and marketing as part of an integrated approach to conducting corporate events.
He has been quoted in a variety of mainstream publications acting as both a general communications advisor and a company spokesperson. Over the past three years, he has spoken at industry-related conferences throughout Canada and the United States. Rawle believes that communication ands event practitioners play a critical role in adding to both the bench-strength and the improvement of an organizations bottom line.
He also tempers this belief with the caveat that all of this can only be realized when communications and events are utilized as part of an integrated approach to organizational strategy and, when practitioners are intimately knowledgeable about the organization with which they work.
Rawle has a Bachelor’s degree in business communications from Brock University and public relations certificate from Humber College.
Within the community, Rawle chairs the Canada East Region Board and was president of the Toronto chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). He is a member of the International Special Events Society (ISES) and the Better Business Bureau Southern Ontario. Rawle is a dedicated fundraiser for United Way of Greater Toronto and has served on the Regan Communications Editorial Board.
In his spare time, Rawle enjoys traveling and experiencing as much as the world has to offer with his wife Abiola, and his dogs, Kitch and Rose.
